Who am I ?
I'm from a small farm town on the prairie in South Dakota, so when I moved to Las Vegas, I instantly fell in love with all the hiking opportunities available. I have been leading hikes for nearly a decade and enjoy meeting new friends as I take them to new places and share some hiking tips. While I work in education during the week, the mountains are my happy place on the weekends, whether it be hiking or mountain biking. I look forward to meeting people and embarking on great adventures with this group.
Hiking with Me
I have a reputation of being a fast hiker, but I've slowed down considerably over the past few years. I'm never in a rush. I just naturally move quickly. That being said, as long as a person on my hike is a solid moderate, I have no problems going at that pace. Safety is always a first priority. Priority number two is having fun. My third goal is to challenge myself and others to become more fit and stay healthy through hiking.
There are very few hikes that I don't love. Many of my vacations around the world involve hiking adventures. My favorite outside the country was probably the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Here at home in Red Rock, I really like Bridge Mountain via the North Peak Wash as well as Terrace Canyon Peak. I like to escape to cooler temperatures at Charleston in the summer, but no hikes really stand out for me there. Other favorites close to Las Vegas include the Grand Canyon rim to rim and Angel's Landing at Zion.
